So basically (without having been able to track down a copy so far) this mag is the same as Terrorizer, symbolised beautifully by the recent coincidence of front covers.
What a dissappointment. I was hoping for signs of a long overdue movement towards expressing the need for something NEW in heavy music.
Psycho metal (meaning all that grunty stuff that all sound the same) is well past its sell by.
Psycho metal is also unhealthy as all it does is dredge up non-reflective angst in the listener. That's the last thing we need today.
We need music that projects INDIVIDUALITY. Like Hendrix. Like The Sex Pistols. Hell, even like Sabbath. (Of course, copying any of these would miss the point entirely - music needs to move forward.)
Zero Tolerance? For what precisely?
Excuse me if my views are too, er EXTREME....

A few differences between us and T:
# Features for musicians - regular guitar and drum columns written by pro extreme music musicians and info on home recording.
# Online Community and "Cache".
# Features on artists - regular features on revered album cover artists.
# Conflicting Opinions - where we get a few people to give a review score for the same record, to get a broader opinion.
# Smaller size & different design - the mag format is different to T and so is the design.
# Vital stats box - Info on past releases and other general band info.
Also we have a completely different set of writers, who I think have a generally different writing style.
As for your comments about "psycho metal"... What a load of generalising rubbish. You say, "If you stand back from the trees just a bit, it all sounds the same." Well you could say the same about any genre of music. Step back a bit further... "All rock-based music sounds the same"... Step back a bit further... "All modern music sounds the same"... Step back a bit more... "All music sounds the same". Maybe you should try standing a bit closer? Or get your ears syringed.
You say you feel this way about ALL culture, so what exactly do you expect us to cover? Why not suggest some bands or something constructive like that? We are making a concerted effort to present more "out there" music as we progress with the mag, but you should appreciate that extreme metal is (and will continue to be) one of the core elements of our view of extreme music.

Has it occured to you Mr Division that just because you are disillusioned with all moden culture or whatever doesn't mean that everyone else is? I, for one, don't want to read columns of 'manifestos, satire and provocation'. I can't think of anything more tedious. If I did want to read such tripe I wouldn't pick up a music magazine and expect to find it in there.
As for your comments that music of the 60s 70s etc is so devastatingly superior to all modern music...its utterly and completely subjective. You don't have the right to tell anyone else that their taste is wrong or inferior. Anymore than I would have the right to sit here and damn everyone who doesn't share my love of 80s thrash and Venom.
As for extreme metal all sounding the same. You are simply wrong. It doesn't. It is an opinion based on ignorance. To me all dance music and rap music sounds the same. But thats because I don't like it, listen to it or understand it. To those that do it no doubt offers endless variety.
Metal is a music form based on heritage and traceable roots. The people who love it don't always want something wildly different and 'out there'. Being different doesn't always make something good or worthy.
Main difference to Terrorizer. ZT writers try to communicate with the readers who share their passion for music, rather than trying to impress them with their usage of a Thesaurus.
And speaking of that passion - just to have such a passion, such a love and interest is far more 'healthy' than your own negative, supposedly controversial, intended to be challenging but failing cynicism.
Show me your magazine that is so much better than ZT. Tell me what you're doing to set culture back on a path you approve of? In fact don't bother, I'm not interested. ZT has nothing to prove to you.
oh fuck it, whatever. bollocks. arse.
PS
The Robots of Death used to scare me until I noticed that they were wearing plimsols that had been spray painted gold.
Fuck off
