Yeah get a 7 string.
I heartily recommend an Ibanez RG7620 (discontinued, but you can find them pretty easily second hand) or if you want to go new, the 1527 like wot I got. If you go for the current model (1527) you may wanna change the bridge pickup. The stocks are good but not great, but thats gonna be the way with any guitar with self-made pickups.
Only thing about them is the finish seems to be pretty thin and brittle (I have 3 dings in mine and it's less than 6 months old) but you shouldn't have a problem with the neck width, I think it's probably the biggest 7 string myth there is.
Fraid I'm not selling one though.

I don't know about Return policies but there are a few sites I always check out when looking for axes...
- These guys are usually cheap for everything, except Ibanez sadly... Not sure if they do 2nd hand... but it's worth checking out their Blowout section.
- Often do that thing of not having it in stock and selling it to you anyway, making you wait months for it to be delivered. Not sure if they do 2nd hand...
- Just found this by typing in "Second hand Ibanez" into Google. No idea if it's any good...
I did actually tell a lie earlier, I am selling a 7 string, but I didn't mention it because:
1. It's a chinese Jackson DX-7, and it's not all that good. I assumed you'd want something a bit better than it is. Fixed bridge Dinky, poo pickups (Duncan Designed), and the neck feels kinda chunky compared to my Ibanez (and it would). It's my current live backup.
2. It's already sort of promised to a mate, who intendeds to buy it "when he has the money" but you know what that could mean right?
3. I've agreed £100 but I think it's probably the extent of it's worth... but should anyone want to part with more, then it's always an option.
Before you ask, I have no idea what that nasty stain on the wall is...
