So, it's been a while since hifi's have been mentioned. who's updated since the last time? i've added a modest DAB tuner to mine. (is modest the right word? who knows). Denon TU-1800DAB. would have went for the same series as amp & cd player but Denon had more presets and was slightly more within my budget.

Atlas basic bi-wire cable. not the best quality in the world but decent enough. planning to update it along with the interconnects in the new year.

Don't believe all that nonsense about speaker cable either affecting the sound or "colouring it" or most of these nonsense audiophile claims, they're simply not true when you look at the principles of physics (the ones which make it possible for the electrical equipment to work in the first place). Use the analogy that whatever the weakest link in the signal chain is affects it most (ironically the analogy audiophile manufacturers use to give you the idea that you "need" to upgrade every single part of your setup regularly The interconnections INSIDE most of the audio units are extremely small bog standard copper joints on a soldered board, so having speaker cables made of pure gold or some "more conductive than copper" metal or "oxygen free"cable won't really make any difference. When you look at the fact gold is more conductive than copper (for use in connections) if you've got even one copper connection in the entire system you might as well not bother with gold, as it's often a serial system so the impedances/resistances are all added together. Just get some nice thick multistranded copper cable (like the one you've got) and you're good to go! Anyway nice hi-fi!

Hahaha, I can believe it. But the burning question is, if you put the coat hangers on speaker wire supports, does it sound any better? Interestingly, when I wired up a few sound systems in nightclubs back in the 90's it wasn't uncommon to use huge twin and earth cable for the subwoofers systems wiring, we're talking multiple wattages of 1000w RMS. However it was considered bad practice using "solid" cable for mids and top end as you lost a bit of detail against stranded cable, apparently due to cable capacitance. I do have a vague memory of the difference being audible, so i'm surprised at these audiophiles not being able to hear anything. Anyway let them get on with polishing the earth pins on their plugs!
