Starting the WHW tomorrow, with a friend, and was just wondering if anyone on here has done it before?
For those of you who haven't heard of it, it's a 95 mile walk from Milngavie to Fort William.

I always thought the West Highland Way was doing it with a sheep...

I'd really like to have a go at this, eventually. Did you take all your own gear or B&B/hostel it?

carried all our own gear, stayed in a hostel one night but only because we couldn't find a place to camp.
it's tough going (though mostly just because of the amount of walking rather than the terrain) but well worth it. great way to see parts of scotland that you probably wouldn't see otherwise.
if you're going to try it carrying all your stuff i'd probably recommend doing some smaller walks (up hills etc) to get your body used to walking with that weight on your back; if i had thought about it before hand i would have done it, probably the reason i got shin splints. although, you might do walks like that often so maybe you wouldn't need to do that.
