I liked your rant because it made me contemplate your stance...

However, after musing over it for a couple of hours, I came to the following conclusions.

1. Music IS about sex (or should be)...we go to gigs to meet people look at eachother, flirt, fancy singers etc...all that is natural. The term 'rock and roll' itself derives from a black term for sex. Music is about musicianship aswell, but really at the core of a great amount of music based entertainment will always be sex. Live with it.

2. Men ARE shallow when it comes to sex (especially in their early twenties, when hormones are absolutely raging). Its ok for you, its easy for a girl to get laid! (especially in a scene like extreme metal)....do you know how hard it is trying to get laid in the metal scene for many men? I'd love to walk into a scene that was 95% women....and have the pick of girls.....but the only scenes that are full of chicks are 'raves' and 'r n b ' (ug!)

2. Extreme Metal is a pretty sexually repressed scene with a large amount of testosterone filled boys who live with their mums (look at sadistic sexually themed gore metal for proof). When a band has a female singer in the metal scene (Lacuna Coil, Arch Enemy)...they suddenly achieve massive sales and promotion (even if they are pretty average musically)... because the selling power of sexuality in a sexually void scene is huge. Thats why you get those type of comments about Nightwish.

I do understand some of your points....but still ultimately think.....
