I really don't see why having a vagina should affect your tastes in music.
Women listen to all kinds music it's as simple as that, it's just that extreme metal has traditionally been a very male oriented genre. It's hard for women to identify with some extreme bands as their lyrics and imagery are essentially degrading to women, even if it's done slightly 'tongue in cheek'.
For me going to a Death Metal gig isn't about pulling it's about going to see an awesome band, for me playing a gig isn't about a female being in a Death Metal band, it's about being a vocalist and making extreme music, the fact that I am a female is of no importance.
I hope I am not the only woman who is tired of this issue being raised again and again. The threads always start (as this one did) with an intelligent opinion and then always ends up being about 'who is most shaggable' it is ridiculous!
If we don't make it an issue then it shouldn't be an issue!

^ Don't panic Anoxia. Sometimes on the ZT forums a topic mannifests that looks inauspiciously serious and grimly so-so. However the truth is much much darker. By the time these threads reach their 3rd page they undergo a terrifying transformation from political debate into scat-covered terrorist kidnap porn involving transformers.
You think i'm joking as well

so back to shagging..... j\k
well said anoxia. the talent should always be the focus male or female. in most serious musical publications it is the focus. i much prefer to read about the music aspect of it than an interviewer askign the guitarist or singer or bassist or drummer what size bra they wear. im really not so interested in that. haha

Well it is extreme music Anoxia
No seriously though I completly agree with you. You've got to remember we live in a world where a black dude in a metal band is a novelty. Sadly most people can't see beyond their snowglobe sized world views.

Well said Marianne. It makes me sick that people make such a big deal about it. But hey, some things are never going to change as long as the world is as it is....!!
I have definately noticed an upsurge in the amount of girls at metal gigs and in bands in the past couple years actually, so hopefully it won't be such a big deal anymore...when I first got into extreme metal I had no female friends to go to gigs with or share music with and it sucked.
The only girls at shows were the pvc clad harlots in massive heels propping themselves up at the bar all night, now I meet girls in the pit moshing more violently than many of the guys....!!
So it seems to be looking up....
