Dammit you're right!
Metal has been lagging behind other genres by sticking with leather pants and not opting for fashionable trousers.
I think i may also email this woman later.
However, the Observer if not the Guardian have a pretty good comeback.
In last month's Observer Music Magazine's 10 CDs of the month:
Gorgoroth. And the article also dismissed Lordi and all their theatrics as well as them apparently playing death metal.

That Guardian article is indeed infuriatingly ridiculous. And that BBC programme on Death Metal Murders was equally stupid and badly-researched. The fashionable trousers bit in that article really made me laugh... how could wearing different trousers possibly be used as 'evidence' that a certian genre of music has developed?!? It's a good thing that the metal look is timeless, it means most bands will concentrate on the music rather than wearing innovative clothing.
Back to the ZT magazine... I thoroughly enjoyed the Deicide article. It prompted me to pre-order the new album, which I am very much looking forward to hearing. The Death Metal special was also surprisingly good... I am usually sceptical about articles summarising the history & development of a genre, but this one seems like it will shape up to be rather good over a few issues.
