Hi there I'm Mark and I'm a new poster on these forums. I'm 21 from Hull and I'm in two other bands. Mainly Winterfylleth and Northen Terror. I've got somewhat of a solo project called Guthrum and I'm really looking for some constructive criticism. I've had a lot of feedback about the drums and I already know which direction I'm going in with that but if anyone could give me a spot of criticism on the overall music I would greatly appreciate it. If you like what you hear feel free to download the EP. http://www.myspace.com/guthrumukThanks. Mark Wood

Are you open to unconstructive praise? I like what i'm hearing, sort of like a less folky Smaga or a heavier The Vision Bleak. THSOG Demo No Vox gets really good about 2 mins 10 secs in. The sound isn't clinically clean but also not drowning in biscuit tin harmonics. My only recommendation is that you don't fiddle with the recording style. Its fine as it is. Foel Grach is really good. The drum work and vocals gives it strangely (and I mean this as a good thing) hardcore feel. I know extreme metal and metalcore don't see eye-to-eye but thats what I hear in this track. And I for one really like that about it. The Anthem Of Our Late And... (sorry, myspace title limits are an arse) is just as good as the other two. You've got a very eclectic rosyer of songs. In particular the vocals on this one are better than the Foel Grach, reminds me of Insomnium and their unashamedly melodic and emotive death metal stylings. Trve Hvll Black Metal

Wow thanks very much indeed. I'm really happy you like it. Feel free to download the EP and if you get chatting to friends and you fancy giving me a reccomendation I'd be eternally grateful. More people that know the name, the better I've just rounded up some musicians to help me with the live work so hopefully hitting the stages around May/June 2010. The new material is mostly certainly not as wishy washy so I guess that can only be a good thing

Not that I know of but you can find it on some good torrent sites such as Isohunt. I'm not sure if anyone else is hosting the upload though. I think it's a case of suck it and see!
