I like it. It's not perfect, or innovative, and you can hear recycled ideas, and Lars drumming is poor. But James vocals sound better than I expected, Kirk is playing leads again, and there is some semblance of passion back. It probably helps that it exceeded my (admittedly low) expectations. Having said that, I did eventually grow to enjoy both "Load" and "Reload" for what they are - solid rock albums.

I have a ticket to go see them, that is a good indicator of how much I enjoyed it as I have never seen them!! Bought it from a bloke at work who had a spare, he's 61, there's hope for us all!

I don't mind the production at all. Maybe the production standards I demand have diminished with all the Black Metal I've been listening to for the past 15 years. I know the production has been criticised, but I think people just HAVE to find something to bitch about regarding Metallica. The only thing that annoys me a bit is that it's so much louder than almost everything else on my ipod, so if I'm listening on random and a new Metallica tune comes on, I jump a foot high and scramble for the volume control.
