I'm heading to Wacken this year, its nice to get abroad for a festival, and my German mate likes going. But the Bloodstock line up is pretty good. I think next year I'll have to try Bloodstock. Its like Bloodstock is trying to establish England as a place to go for a metal festival, whereas Wacken is probably the biggest (or at least best known) one in Europe. What do people think is good/bad about both? How do they stack up for you? Saying they're both wank and telling us where you're going instead is perfectly acceptable btw

BLOODSTOCK HAS "BLOOD" IN IT'S NAME AND IS THEREFORE MORE METAL BY DEFAULT. YOU'RE A FUCKING POSER FOR EVEN ASKING THIS QUESTION. I'M GOING TO FIRE MY POSER RAY AT YOUR HOME TOWN, I HOPE YOU ENJOY BEING CREED FANS.

I'm afraid i'm not metal enough for either. Wacken's lineup for me at least ranges from the wondrous (1349, Kampfar, Lock Up, etc) to the ghastly (Job For A Cowboy, Motley Crue, etc) and I haven't really off most of the bands. Bloodstock has an amazing lineup to be fair - but i've got no more holiday to book off and right now I could never afford the tickets.
I will be attending SuperSonic in Brum naturally.

Shit, forgot Cooper was at Wacken, awesome Mithras are at Bloodstock, and I'd kill to see the new lineup.

Bloodstock is getting better each year, only been to the Open Air once but I prefer the old indoors, some bands just sound miles better indoors. Wacken will always be but like all things metal, once it starts to get 'popular' bands involved it suddenly loses credability.

I've retired from Wacken now after 5 times, it got too overcrowded for me, way too busy! Went Brutal Assault last year, best festival ever!! Off to BOA for the first time this year, ace line up

Unless its moved from Clisson (sp) its in an ideal location as McDonalds and supermarket not too far away. French people not as bad as I thought they would be, though the police get annoyed when you piss up their car, get caught but manage to run away shouting out, 'its ok! i'm english!' as if that justifies anything. Only went on the first year and it was quality, only had 2 stages so you never really missed a band and the merch market was awesome.
