Ay up,
Anyone know where this tag came from?
What sorts of metal can it be applied to in your eyes? What bands are typically deserving of the tag?
Is it purely a musical thing, or can appearance and attitude of the band contribute to them getting labelled?
Can you put your finger on what it is about these styles and bands that's wank?
I thought this'd be half interesting and a good excuse to rip the piss out of crap bands.

'Br00tal' to me signifies bands that are predominantly of the 'brutal death metal' genre, specifically the area obsessed with slam riffs, usually misogynistic lyrical content, poorly drawn artwork and carbon copy logos. Usually preoccupied with the word 'guttural' and either bodily fluids and/or rape.
The vast proponents of such a subgenre are usually, though not exclusively, the kind of meatheaded invidiuals who listen to nothing but br00tal death and see it as some new form of finesse.
In short bands like Devourment, Guttural Secrete, Vomit The Soul, Putrid Pile, Insidious Load/Viral Decrepancy, Vomit Remnants, Abominable Putridity, Katalepsy, Degrade, Septycal Gorge, Carnivore Diprosopus....
As you can see, a lot of the bands enjoy making up words, as well as in some cases stringing together overly long songtitles based on random 10-letter words cherry picked out of a dictionary at random.
It's also a terminology utilised by those of other non-brutal dispositions to defame any and all "brutal death" bands regardless of whether those "brutal death" bands fit into the mould of being 'br00tal' or are in fact more along the lines of say Origin, Internal Suffering, Hour Of Penance etc.
