Out of those, I've only heard Hagalaz Runedance, but I really like it, I have a real softspot of traditional celtic music. Dead Can Dance are great as well, though they aren't strictly folk, they do take on a lot of folk influences. Folk can be metal in my books anyway, look at bands like Primordial and Agalloch!

yeh exactly! always loved folk, me.
it's one of those things though - when you tell your mates you listen to folk they just laugh. then u tell em metal, and they laugh even harder lol.
dead can dance are phenominal, but yeh not folk as such. if you go on those lines you'd eventually get to Elend and stuff like that. (elend are one of my alltime fave bands).
I just love folk. It's dark and natural and honest. No bullshit. And sometimes I'm not in the mood to be brutalised by kataklysm it's better for the ladies too.....

Check out the Ulver album 'Kveldssanger'... it's a purely folk album done by a black metal band. High quality.

There's quite a folk following in the village where I live!
theres an annual Folk Festival here every september (the third till the fifth this year) its really old traditional folky kinda stuffs though pretty much!
some of it is really good though!
not many people know the joys of how epic a guitar/accordian(sp?) duo can be \m/
