The United States are in a sense, the new Roman empire - a massive state with unrivaled economic and military power and as much the subject of jealousy and loathing as those who were outside Roman influence.

But all empires eventually crumble...

Will it be nuked? Torn apart and fought over by the participants of a mass invasion? It's always a question which has really fucking dogged me... so let your imagination run wild for a second.

How will America meet its end?

My theory - Christian fundamentalism (oh yes it is a threat) will get out of hand and destroy any notion of democracy, creating a sort of western Saudi Arabia. Armed with a new ideal, the yankee bible thumpers will take on expansionism and try enforcing their doctrine on the other nations of the world (no change there) to disguise political ambition.

Black metal will reach mainstream popularity in Europe. Everyone will invade America. Darkthrone will play at the victory party and people will drink mead and light fires in the ruins of Washington *laughs madly*

Realistically I reckon that the US empire will crumble in a an economic fashion, as I stated in another thread. The extent of this failure depends on so many factors its difficult to be precise. Perhaps it'll be like the great depression again, perhaps it will cause a revolution against a governing and economic system that repeatedly fails the people.

Or maybe the US will just loose global power, but still scrape through, but with much reduced influence as with the British Empire.

Or perhaps America will engage the world in brutal conflict to try and save its empire. You know those nut jobs from the New American Century (look it up) wont sit down and wave goodbye to global control.

America is a very new nation, 200 years of history is a drop in the ocean compared to China and countries like Azerbaijan.
