The forums are severely lacking any serious thread. Normally I would be fine with this for I don't want to accidently create the Terrorizer Forums v.2 However my recent posts have been a consistent mix of MS paint representations of Wario Mannaz, arguing with Besty about Nile VS. our dads, and regularly proclaiming my love for garage music via the now playing thread. Here it go.

Today i've mostly been thinking about this. Would a religous individual (lets say for example a Christian) be psychologically more prepared to witness a supernatural event than a secularized or outright atheist person?
This might seem like a silly and obvious question but i'm not sure if it's clear cut. I think many miraculous and divine events recorded around the world can be put down to faithful majorities intrepeting a coincidence or unlikely (though ultimately mundane) happenings. But my question wasn't aimed at milk drinking Ganesha statues or the face of our lord appearing simulacra on vegetables.
What i'm trying to say is would a Christian cope better with an appearance of a winged celestial being or a cloven goat man than an non-religous bystander witnessing the same event. As an atheist I assume that angels and demons don't exist. But say I happened to bump into one walking down to the Custard Factory, would I be able to accept the situation better if I was already inclined to believing in those sorts of beings?

Its an odd question but I would like to hear your points of view. Undoubtably the thread will degrade into a story about singing moomins fisted to death by small Islamic cactuses. Try to stay on subject

Hmm, quite a complex question really.

i don't know how i would handle it really. I call myself an athiest, however i was raised as a Protestant and if something such as that did happen i think i'd be compelled to turn back to Christianity: the main reason that i turned my back on it was that there is no proof of these events actually happening. if i witnessed such an event i'd have evidence/proof and would likely be inclined to believe in God and the rest of the gang.

Or at least thats what my first thoughts on your question were.
