Nothing puts me off a pub quicker than when the regulars look down their noses at me because I haven't dropped a spider in an ink well and let it walk across my face. There are better places to drink in London and much better places to drink elsewhere, by which I mean the kind of place where I can buy a pint and actually get change from a tenner.
