The random thread in the idiot zone has become a sort of fly tipping zone for churlish internet japery and hijinks. Admittedly about 99% is my own doing - but i'd to help amend that. In this thread you post pictures that aren't necessarily funny or memes, but just make your brain violenty come due to their brilliance. They could be photographs in a scientific or technological theme, could be art or photography, fashion or culture, buildings or wilderness, plants and animals, whatever you like.

As a wee twist on the usual over-GIFed harrowing voyages that most picture threads, please give a brief comment on why you like said image/s. I'll start off the proceedings...

Tbh though Belly I think you killed this thread with that close up image of the vinyl. It still bewilders me even now.

These may have been around for a little while on the net, so I'm not sure if their existence is common knowledge or not, but stumbled on these photos by a guy called Sergey Larenkov who has travelled to locations photographed during wartime to replicate the photograph in the modern day, and then merge the shots to create eerie inter-generational photographs.
