There's no such thing as the right to not be offended. This "sweep it under the rug" bullshit is ludicrous in the extreme. This will never be buried, no matter how much dirt they try to fling on it. It would seem that these people think that if they erase all traces, it will somehow magically go away.
What next, take all the "niggers" out of Faulkner?

Unbelievably ridiculous, as this kind of revisionism always is.
What disturbs me is not only that removing the word 'nigger' from an ultimately non-racist book will make racism go away but that some people think 'nigger' is cognate with 'slave' in every and all senses.

This type of non sense seems rampant in my country (usa) currently. Most of us are sick of it......that's why they keep trying to take out guns....they're afraid that one day we'll finally have had enough and decide to fix things ourselves. I'm actually fairly conservative but absolutely against censorship of any kind - as were the founders of america. Here you guys are talking about privatising medicine as well - good for you!
