I'm going to Blackpool for a week at the end of July. Can anybody tell me if there's anything for a metalhead to do there? I'm thinking rock/metal-clubs, good record shops, merch stores etc.. Any advice would be appreciated

No.
There's piss all metal scene. I'm not aware of any particular metal shop or club other than the atypical "mosher" night that I'm g uessing really wouldn't be your scene.
The best thing would be to get the train to Manchester one day. It's shit for vinyl shopping but okay for metal merch - Afflecks Palace in particular is rammed full of "goth"/alternative clothes, posters, patches, accessories etc.

Clean up the beach. you can metal it up a bit by listening to Mercyful Fate as you do so.
