Yeah I wanted one of those Sega Nomads as well. As far as i'm aware they were never released over here, don't even know if they were released outside Japan. I just wanted to play Streets of Rage on the bus, although imagine how annoying it would be if you fought all the way to Mr Big only for the batterys to run out.
