Still reading Jo Brand 'Look Back In Hunger'. It's nothing mindblowing, revelatory or AMAZING but still a nice warm book to keep you snug. Guess it's more just for fans really...
Going to start Frankie Boyle's tomorrow too and the second installment of the god-in-human-form-himself Stephen Fry's autobio when I get it at work tomorrow.

Currently reading "I am Ozzy", by one John M. Osbourne. I've not read that far yet, but so far it's interesting stuff. Far more captivating than his latest album, at any rate. When that's done, I plan on returning to the Discworld with "Feet of Clay".

Just finished 'The Greatest Show on Earth' the other day. Not being a biologist or having a very deep understanding of how evolution actually works, it was a pretty good read. But I must confess, I am getting a bit tired of Dawkins..So, I thought I'd follow it up with some really angry litterature, 'Militant Modernism'. A, so far, funny and angry look at the Modernist movement in Architecture and how it has been completely undermined to the prefered post modernist pastiche we see today. It reveals how the futuristic buildings of the past have been in most cases, demolished and replaced with historic hotch potch sentimentality which still doesn't work, yet alludes to working due to its inherent historic qualities. It also takes a vicious dig at the supposed socialist link between modernism and politics, trying to unearth the movement as a pure intention to provide for the people, and not act as a political tool and provide substandard housing for the people as at least here in the UK, is more so than often, the truth. Interestingly as well, that this movement or style if you wish, has now become the sole domain of the wealthy..
I don't know about you guys, but I would personally like to thank Birmingham's many architects and city planners for giving us such great environment for metal to flourish!
p.s I am not a communist. Really.

Stripping the altars is good. He's done a book in a similar vein which is more of a case study called The Voices of Morebath which is worth a look in
