Death metal just wins out as the preferred genre for me, though I love my grindcore and thrash as well.
Black metal I struggle with - one the one hand musically I find a lot to enjoy in it, but I really struggle to get past the ridiculous imagery that seems to be mandatory for these bands. As far I am concerned its all about the MUSIC, by all means work on the image of your album covers etc but bands shouldnt be poseurs themselves. I just can't take it seriously when thinking of these 'evil' bands all standing round the mirror applying make-up before the gig, or Mayhem queing up at Boots to buy their eye-liner - the whole corpsepaint thing is just laughable and adolescent.
Why no voting option for 'noise' - or is that what 'power electronics' is supposed to mean?
