Got sent this review today, check it out: -
i dont agree with the thing about the format, given that all music magazines are of a very similar format, but the irony is that Lisa reformatted Terrorizer during her 5 years as publisher. haha
cool review

I don't see the similarities personally.
ZT is far more slicker (in the sense that it looks like as much effort has gone into the design as the writing) looking than Terrorizer, plus there's no overpowering stench of elitism permeating through the pages of ZT that you so often get with Terrorizer.
Oh yeah and there's fuck all EBM/ industrial (read: shit dance music) in ZT, which can only be a bonus!
I guess Terrorizer is used as the benchmark for no reason other than it's the only other British magazine out there covering a similar market of music.

Prefer it to terrorizer not too similar though. love the format personally. the only qualm i have is the anthrax review in the lives section. so what if they're catchy. tis still a fantastic band but not as good now franky has left.

I'm strongly convinced the designer of the new ZT used to work on Terrorizer. I can see some of the things they do such as pulling a colour from the related article photo and the way the serif headlines have been used on occasion. However the design of this mag is much much stronger. Without going into too much detail (about crap like italic spacing haha) the overall effect is that the more mature and thoughtful feel of ZT reflects back through the articles themselves and you get the impression that eg-the band being interviewed is also more thoughtful about their art which in turn provides an air of intent and i feel like I am reading about people with something wothwhile to say.
Going that bit smaller is always a good move to. It's practical as well as being just downright cool and edgy.
Enjoying it so far, seems some of the interaction between mag and site is a bit fresher and promising too. Hope the new mag does well.
